Michele Allen, MSN, RN, FN-CSp, LNC, is a forensic nurse specialist, legal nurse consultant, and owner of Prestige Legal Nursing, LLC. She helps attorneys navigate complex medical evidence by translating clinical findings into clear, objective, and legally relevant information.
With more than 27 years of healthcare experience and a diverse clinical background spanning surgical nursing, perioperative services, utilization management, and healthcare leadership, Michele brings a comprehensive understanding of both medicine and healthcare systems to every case she reviews. Since transitioning into legal nurse consulting and forensic case analysis, she has assisted attorneys in Kentucky and across the United States with cases involving child abuse and abusive head trauma, strangulation, sexual assault, homicide, assault, traumatic brain injury, elder abuse, behavioral health, substance use, and other medically complex matters.
Michele holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), is a Certified Forensic Nurse Specialist (FN-CSp), and has completed specialized training in child abuse, abusive head trauma, and advanced strangulation investigation. She is also a legal nurse consultant and has completed education in paralegal studies, providing her with a unique understanding of both the medical and legal aspects of litigation.
What distinguishes Michele’s approach is her commitment to reviewing the entire case — not just the medical records. By evaluating medical documentation alongside police reports, witness statements, forensic findings, photographs, timelines, and other discovery materials, she helps attorneys identify inconsistencies, understand injury mechanisms, evaluate expert opinions, and develop informed litigation strategies.
As a forensic trial nurse, Michele’s role is not to advocate for one side or another, but to provide objective, evidence-based analysis rooted in forensic nursing principles, current medical literature, and the facts of the case. Her goal is simple: to help attorneys understand what the medical evidence does — and does not — support.

Why I Chose Forensic Nursing
My path into forensic nursing was not a traditional one.
After spending years in healthcare, I transitioned into legal nurse consulting with the expectation that I would primarily review medical records and help attorneys understand healthcare-related issues. Early in my consulting career, I was asked to assist with a criminal case involving allegations of child abuse and complicity to murder. As I reviewed the case materials, I quickly realized that understanding the medical records alone was not enough. The medical evidence had to be evaluated alongside witness statements, investigative findings, timelines, and other discovery materials to fully understand what the evidence did—and did not—support.
That experience fundamentally changed the way I viewed case review. I saw firsthand how complex medical information could be misunderstood, misinterpreted, or taken out of context by individuals without a healthcare background. I also recognized the value of having someone who could bridge the gap between medicine and the law by providing objective, evidence-based analysis.
What began as a single case developed into a passion for forensic nursing and medico-legal consultation. Today, I focus exclusively on helping attorneys understand complex medical evidence in criminal and civil litigation. My goal is not to advocate for a particular outcome, but to provide clear, unbiased analysis that allows legal teams to make informed decisions based on the facts, the science, and the evidence.
